Evidence-Based Psychotherapy Services:

Please allow me to provide you with information about the services you will be purchasing, if you choose me as your therapist.  The type of therapy I offer is evidence-based, and it's important to understand what that means (and what you will get if you choose to work with me!).

I believe in the importance of providing effective psychotherapy (i.e., psychotherapy that will help you feel better!).  Therefore, I offer psychological interventions that have been studied in clinical trials and have been shown to be effective.  Evidence-based psychotherapies not only help people to reduce their psychological symptoms (i.e., depressed mood, anxiety, insomnia), but they also have the potential to help people reduce their symptoms even after therapy has ended (which means that people who choose evidence-based psychotherapies may need fewer sessions in order to achieve positive outcomes, compared to psychotherapies that are not evidence-based).  It is important for people selecting a therapist to understand that not all therapists adhere to an evidence-based practice model.  Not all therapists have received training in the delivery of evidence-based psychotherapies.  If you choose to work with me, you will have access to a therapist who deeply values evidence-based practice, and who has spent over a decade receiving training from national experts in the delivery of evidence-based psychotherapies.

Please note that evidence-based psychotherapy is only effective when the client is a full participant in his/her treatment.  This requires regular session attendance, full participation during psychotherapy sessions, and willingness to apply strategies between sessions.  If you are willing to be a full participant in the process, I aim to teach you to use skills and strategies that can assist you long after your therapy is complete.

The cost of psychotherapy can be a barrier for many people.  Keep in mind that evidence-based psychotherapies often require fewer sessions, in order to achieve positive outcomes, compared to therapies that are not evidence-based.  Therefore, while you may invest more up front, you may invest fewer dollars over time.

Information about payment and health insurance:  Payment is expected at each appointment. I accept cash, check, and most major credit cards (a small transaction fee is applied for credit transaction). I am not in network with insurance. However, I am happy to provide you with a receipt that you may submit to insurance, if you have out of network coverage. Please check your health insurance plan for specific information regarding coverage, deductibles, and rates of reimbursement.
